First and foremost, I want to say that my thoughts are with the victims of the attacks of September 11th, 2001. This 5-year anniversery is going to be tough on many of their family members and friends, and I wish the best for those still dealing with their loss.

Secondly, my thoughts are focused on seeing the real terrorists brought to justice, whomever they may be.

Surprisingly, the Minneapolis & St. Paul Star Tribune has actually done a story on the conspiracy theories surrounding the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

As the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks looms, skepticism about the official version of the atrocities that day has gained traction in the minds of many Americans and among a small, but growing, number of academics.

Yeah, and it’s about time you covered it!!

The story doesn’t delve into the details at all, however. It just covers the emergence of the alternate theories and what the “experts” have to say about all these “kooks.” But it’s not a total hatchet job, so I guess that’s something.

We have to have a real investigation of 9/11, not the whitewash that was the 9/11 Commission Report. We owe it to the victims and their families to make sure justice is served.

I shouldn’t even defoul this blog with such news, but here ya go:

In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, John Mark Karr said that he contacted JonBenet’s mother, Patsy, before she died of cancer in June to express his remorse for the killing.

“I conveyed to her many things, among them that I am so very sorry for what happened to JonBenet,” Karr said as U.S. and Thai authorities escorted him from his Bangkok hotel, where he spent over an hour packing his belongings.

Karr said it was his understanding that Patsy Ramsey read letters that he sent to her. He said JonBenet’s death was “an accident.”

“It’s very important for me that everyone knows that I love her very much and that her death was unintentional,” said Karr, who sweated and stuttered occasionally as he spoke in a quiet voice.

Karr, 41, was arrested Wednesday, halfway around the world from Boulder, Colo., where JonBenet’s body was found beaten and strangled in her parent’s basement on Dec. 26, 1996.

This guy sounds like a sick fucker. He says he loved her — is that why he drugged, raped and murdered her?

Well, at least this fucking psychopath was finally caught. I can only imagine what the pedophile was doing in Bangkok. Let’s hope he didn’t “love” any children over there, but that seems a little unlikely.

Does this mean the parents are not guilty?

Well, no. They turned their daughter into a prepubescent pinup, which is what attracted this psycho in the first place. While I don’t think they should be jailed, I think they have to look at their own motivations for the whole beauty pageant illusion they draped her in. How much of it was a selfish desire to have the cutest daughter in the world? I’m sure JonBenet loved the attention, but parents are supposed to look out for their kids, not parade them around like a hunk of meat before the lecherous eyes of a million perverts.

Oh, and they should be chained upside-down in a hideous dungeon for naming their daughter “JonBenet.” I mean c’mon! Could you be any more pretentious?! Ack!!

Ultimately, though, the crime rests on the shoulders of John Mark Karr. What a fucking tragedy.

UPDATE: Karr was probably a patsy. RigInt has blown this wide open.

And that’s about the best thing I can say about him.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of the alleged plans to bring down 11 or 12 airplanes flying from Britain to the U.S., using liquid explosives. Well, I’m sorry, but I just don’t buy it. I’m a cynical bastard, perhaps, but I think this whole story is full of shit. It stinks to high heaven.

Cheney, meanwhile, is standing up for his buddy, Joe “Loser” Lieberman. This is what he had to say, shortly after learning of the supposed terror attack plans:

Vice President Dick Cheney said on Wednesday that one thing he found disturbing about the defeat of Sen. Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut Democratic primary on Tuesday was that “our adversaries in this conflict, the al Qaeda types, clearly are betting on the proposition that ultimately they can break the will of the American people.” (Cheney made the comments after he was briefed on the suspected terror plot, according to a senior administration official.)

What the fuck is he talking about? Did he just basically call the voters who chose Ned Lamont “al Qaeda types”? Or is he saying that “Lamont is the al Qeada candidate“? Either way, that’s basically slander. Not to mention stupid.

I don’t know if Cheney is aware that 60% of Americans polled recently said that we should begin troop withdrawals by the end of the year, but that the type of thing he should be aware of. So are 60% of Americans traitors? According to Cheney, yes.

You know, the neocons are always very quick to accuse anyone who disagrees with them of being a traitor. But we have a saying where I come from that goes, “Whoever smelt it, dealt it.” Referring to farting, of course (this isn’t the fucking NY Times). And I think that, crude as it is, it’s often very correct. It is the neocons who are the traitors.

We are engaged in a war for the very soul of our great nation. These are dangerous times, and if we don’t choose our fate wisely we will end up being ruled by a small cadre of psychotic fascists who use terror to achieve their political and financial goals. The neocons are evil, and somehow they’ve taken over our country. We have to get it back.

This story is but one small example of the lengths that the neocons will go to in order to hold onto their ill-gotten power. They will slander over half the nation, imply that anyone who disagrees with them is a “far-left extremist traitor” and cynically exploit terror threats to usurp more federal power.

We would not be in this situation if the media was doing it’s job. This blog probably would not exist if the media was reliable and aggressive in its pursuit of truth. But it’s not. The mainstream media has failed us again and again. They are failing us again today by not questioning the government’s claims more aggressively.

Don’t believe everything the government says. The government is utterly controlled by the evil neocons. It’s time people wake up to that fact and vote accordingly.

The Occupation of the Media

The American military occupies Iraq and, by extension, the Iraqi people. But it also occupies the American media, especially the embedded reporters. The military will go to great lengths to get a positive story, but if the story looks negative the military will do nothing to help the reporters. It’s only logical, after all. Iraq is a dangerous place. So should we be embedding reporters at all since it’s such a one-sided story?

The producer said that it was impossible to pursue stories frowned upon by the military—for example, on how the local population viewed the occupation and American troops—because she was not permitted to leave the base on her own. The height of absurdity came when the Tikrit compound came under serious attack one evening and the producer was asked by the Reuters bureau in Baghdad to phone in a report on the situation. “We couldn’t find out anything [from the U.S. military],” she said, so Reuters had to cover the fighting from Baghdad, despite having a TV producer and reporter on the ground at the compound in Tikrit.

The producer frequently filmed foot patrols and nighttime raids. She said that for the latter, the military and the embedded journalists would drive for long stretches in pitch darkness. The raids themselves, she said, were blurry and confusing, and afterwards soldiers would round up suspected insurgents and sympathizers for interrogation. It was routine for the producer to wait in one room of a house while detainees were questioned in another. “Not always, but there were times when I would hear detainees screaming during the questioning,” she said. “I’m not sure what was happening but they were screaming loudly—they weren’t just being slapped around.” Because she obviously was not permitted to film the interrogations, none of that material could be included in her pool feeds.

The war is corrosive not just to American ideals but to the spirits of our troops over there fighting. If they don’t need to be placed in such an amoral situation then they should be thrust into that kind of world. Iraq was a war of choice. Dick Cheney’s choice.

The military’s occuption of the media as long as the media cowers at the idea of biting the hand that feeds it. We need more independent reporting in Iraq, although I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be over there without support. Where can we find the real story of Iraq? From the sound of things, it’s worse than we know.

It now sounds like the NSA approached AT&T about setting up a domestic spying ring well before 9/11. Bush previously claimed that 9/11 was the impetus behind the decision, but it sounds like he’s just a fascist by nature:

The U.S. National Security Agency asked AT&T Inc. to help it set up a domestic call monitoring site seven months before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, lawyers claimed June 23 in court papers filed in New York federal court.

The allegation is part of a court filing adding AT&T, the nation’s largest telephone company, as a defendant in a breach of privacy case filed earlier this month on behalf of Verizon Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp. customers. The suit alleges that the three carriers, the NSA and President George W. Bush violated the Telecommunications Act of 1934 and the U.S. Constitution, and seeks money damages.

“The Bush Administration asserted this became necessary after 9/11,” plaintiff’s lawyer Carl Mayer said in a telephone interview. “This undermines that assertion.”

The lawsuit is related to an alleged NSA program to record and store data on calls placed by subscribers. More than 30 suits have been filed over claims that the carriers, the three biggest U.S. telephone companies, violated the privacy rights of their customers by cooperating with the NSA in an effort to track alleged terrorists.

Well, this probably comes as a surprise to anyone who thinks Bush is a real conservative. The neocons are called neo-conservatives because they’re not really conservative. They’re actually quite a radical bunch and they came into office with a very forward-looking plan to reshape the world and America’s place in it. While you certainly can’t call them liberals, the conservative label doesn’t fit either. That’s why I like to call them neo-fascists. It describes their intent and their methods so much better than the other, more conventional terms.

So let there be no doubt: Spying on us and taking away our liberties was the plan from day one. They didn’t suddenly become radicalized by 9/11 — they claim that continually and that’s bullshit. They hope that we were changed by 9/11, but it didn’t affect them in the same way. Shit, the neocons probably threw a party after 9/11 because suddenly everything they’ve ever wanted was within reach. They can continue building their American Empire without a lot of whiny opposition (or so they thought! Bloggers can whine better than anyone!) and they no longer had to pretend to care about the Constitution. When you look at who benefited most from 9/11 the neocons are on the top of the list. They certainly faired better than the mythical Al Qaeda (which is CIA anyway).
We live in dark times. Can’t trust our own government. Our government has been stolen out from under our noses and most people have no idea why or how. I can answer that quite easily. Why? Power. How? The Federal Reserve System. That’s a gross oversimplification, but the fact remains that the Fed enabled the private banking class to control our government from afar. Just think about it: A private institution, in the middle of our government (inaccurately named “Federal”) that controls our money supply. The government depends on the Fed for it’s power because in the capitalist system the bankers are king. Shit, you’d be king too if you could take a dollar and turn it into ten dollars just by loaning it out ten times. That’s the way banks work; fractional reserve banking is a huge scam:

Banks make money by literally creating money out of thin air, nowadays exclusively deposits rather than bank notes. This sort of swindling or counterfeiting is dignified by the term “fractional-reserve banking,” which means that bank deposits are backed by only a small fraction of the cash they promise to have at hand and redeem. (Right now, in the United States, this minimum fraction is fixed by the Federal Reserve System at 10 percent.)

Fractional Reserve Banking

Let’s see how the fractional reserve process works, in the absence of a central bank. I set up a Rothbard Bank, and invest $1,000 of cash (whether gold or government paper does not matter here). Then I “lend out” $10,000 to someone, either for consumer spending or to invest in his business. How can I “lend out” far more than I have? Ahh, that’s the magic of the “fraction” in the fractional reserve. I simply open up a checking account of $10,000 which I am happy to lend to Mr. Jones. Why does Jones borrow from me? Well, for one thing, I can charge a lower rate of interest than savers would. I don’t have to save up the money myself, but simply can counterfeit it out of thin air. (In the nineteenth century, I would have been able to issue bank notes, but the Federal Reserve now monopolizes note issues.) Since demand deposits at the Rothbard Bank function as equivalent to cash, the nation’s money supply has just, by magic, increased by $10,000. The inflationary, counterfeiting process is under way.

The nineteenth-century English economist Thomas Tooke correctly stated that “free trade in banking is tantamount to free trade in swindling.”

Read the whole article. It’s a great primer on how inflated and fake our whole economy is. Anytime there’s inflation your money is suddenly worth less. But whoever created that new money just got a sweet deal. He just swindled you and it’s all completely legal. He can swindle you again and again and you’ll never know his name or look him in the eye. You’ll never get a chance to get your money back either. Our entire economy is one big scam.

So, who benefits from all of this? Bankers and criminals, of course (is there a difference?). Over the years they have grown powerful and they are getting extremely tired of the constitutional roadblocks in place and they would very much like to be rid of our pesky civil liberties. So it should come as no surprise that Bush has been a tyrannical, fascist, wanna-be dictator from day one — he is very much a scion of the criminal banking class (he was born in Connecticut, not Texas) and his goal has always been to increase the power of the Shadow Government that sprung up after the creation of the Fed. The Shadow Government includes the military-industrial-complex (which itself includes the NSA, CIA, the Pentagon as a whole and Congress) along with the Fed, the FBI, the ATF and various other tentacles of contr
ol (like the media). Not everyone who works at the NSA is part of this Shadow Government, but the problem is that most people don’t even know it exists — so how can they fight against it?

Spread the word. The Shadow Government is basically a takeover attempt by the banking cartel and their criminal buddies. Events like 9/11 will continue to happen until they are removed from power.

Will bloggers change the world?

Good discussion over at PressThink.

I’m not usually one to blow smoke up bloggers’ collective ass, but Jay makes some good points. The future is an open vista technologically (you can guess what I think the future holds politically. Alas, Babylon comes to mind) and I just posted about how necessary it is to have a blog the other day. So why am I hesitant? ‘Cause I’d rather that Big Media didn’t know what’s coming. So why am I posting about this at all? Hmm…. good point. Because I can? Because I’m pretty positive no one from the NSA or the New York Times reads this blog? Pick your excuse.

Anyway, blogs aren’t even the most important thing. It’s the links between people that make us strong. If you are ever in trouble or you need to post something that the MSM won’t touch with a 30 foot pole, send it to me. I’m editorially irresponsible. I’ll publish any muthafuckin’ thing (and cuss about it, around it, during it, and after it). If there’s a story out there that needs more exposure, send it to me and a hundred other bloggers. Some of us will publish it and somebody will (hopefully) read about it. We just gotta look out for each other, the same way the rich, elitist upperclass looks after their own.

But let’s remember that we don’t have Big Media on the ropes. Far from it. So let’s not get too cocky, folks. Blogs are cool and they can change the world…but will they? Maybe when Grandma reads blogs instead of watching NBC. Until that day, we’re small potatoes.

Trouble Ahead

Been awhile since I posted. I know, I know. But I’ve been busy – …., shit! Always doin’ something!

The holidays are over and now I’m looking at the new year with some degree of trepidation. Currently, Ariel Sharon, Prime Minster of Israel (or “Hey, That guy is totally fat!!” as he is commonly known) is very ill, having suffered a life-threatening stroke. I think he will probably die. But we will see.

This can only mean more instability in the Middle East. I have a bad feeling about this year. I’m worried that something terrible will happen. I’m trying to keep chin up, but this doesn’t look very good. Hopefully, I’m just freaking for no reason. But you know, maybe – just maybe – the coming war is a good thing. It’ll free us of some dangerous illusions, that’s for sure.

I’m afraid people in America have gotten lazy and are afraid to face the terrifying reality about our leaders. This is not a bunch of weak-kneed faggoty-ass bureaucrats talking about interests rates or some shit. No, this Bush crew is a bunch of hard-nosed, bad-ass muthafuckers. Seriously, I respect the game they throw, but make no mistake. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and those other bastards – they’re fucking evil. Make no mistake.

I’m not talking about knockin’-over-a-store-evil, I’m talking about long E evil. Ya know:

Eeeeeeeeeeeeevil.

We clear? Never say you were not warned. If you follow this Bush motherfucker, you follow a demon on the path to hell.

I shouldn’t even need to justify the above rant. I fear in the a few years I won’t, but by then it’ll be too late. It’s already too late. But people are foolish and they’re easily swayed by the slick news media. The news has given Bush such a free ride that he’s even got about 38% of the population believing he’s doing a good job as president when he – quite clearly – is not. And many of those who disapprove of his performance are woefully ignorant of his many hidden crimes and incompetence. Even some of the people who are accused of being mindless “Bush-haters” are unaware of just how evil he truly is.

America is in a dark place. This regime will not rollover easily. Certainly I believe that we need to impeach Bush. But I actually worry – would he surrender if arrested? Or would his people lead a Coup d’état? It honestly worries me; that’s how little I trust this regime.

I do a lot of reading to keep up on current events. I have ever since I was a child. Sometimes I get so sick to my stomach I can barely continue. But I usually keep plowing on. The horrible truth is still the truth, and that’s important. I know that a lot of other people don’t read as much as I do. I think I have a compulsion or something, because I do it endlessly. But what about the rest of the (non-geeky) population? Are people keeping abreast of current events? Will whatever’s coming next catch them by surprise? I suppose most of the rest of them already know that the governent is full of shit. Don’t have to read no books to figure that out, son. But the other group will never blame the government, no matter what. The government could throw a big party on top of Lady Liberty wherein Bush would ceremonially rape a donkey and Cheney could narrate while Rumsfeld webcasts the whole thing out to a million PCs and the government apologist would still have some bullshit excuses like, “Oh well, that was just light from a weather balloon reflecting off some swamp gas and entering a nearby abandoned prism, which fell off a ledge and spontaneously refracted so as to form the image of George Bush fucking a donkey and beating it like it owed him money, which was transmitted to the internet by a camera that somebody had accidently left connected to a OC-13 uplink connection…. for a half hour.”

Yeah. That’s a believable scenario. I think the problem is that the government’s excuses for its fuck-ups are sometimes even more fantastically unlikely than the conspiracy theories that pop up afterwards. Shit, that’s probably why there’s an eternal debate between the kooks and the skeptics. The “skeptics”, unfortunately, side with the government instead of rationality all too often. And the kooks love to invent crazy shit about, well, George Bush fucking a donkey in a bizarre ritual. I suppose blog posts like this one are the reason many of those fucked up rumors get started. Oops. My apologies in advance.

Anyway, I’m still hoping that 2006 turns out okay and we don’t all get annihilated in fiery nuclear death strike, or sent off to die in a widening middle eastern war that is starting to look more and more like World War III (and now introducing…. Iran!). I’m also hoping that no more hurricanes, earthquakes or tsunamis rip through our cities, here or anywhere. I pray that a horrible virus doesn’t sweep the world and cripple cities across the globe in a gasping trail of hemorrhaging death.

Most importantly, I’m really hoping that no more of my friends or family die. Looking back at my posts, I see that I haven’t posted anything at all since Jason died. I guess that I didn’t know what to say. And I still don’t.

Rest in Peace,
Jason VanBeck

For the rest of you, and anybody who stumbles upon this page – please don’t you die, either.

I guess this is a shitty way to end this post, but….

Happy new year.

DEATH! Death, everywhere I look!!

It’s been an interesting week. My car broke down a week ago today.

It died while going down 494, towards St. Paul. I had it towed to the shop, even though I knew it was dead. My parents were there to give me a ride back to my apartment, kind souls that they are. I stuck the keys in the envelope and dropped it in the late-night mail slot. As I hop in the folks’ car my mom points out that the hazard lights on. D’oh! I forgot to turn them off!

So I knew the battery would be dead in the morning. I figured that would be fine since the car was dead anyway. I got the call the next morning, and waited for the news. Instead the repair guy had called to let me know that my driver’s side window had been smashed! Someone had done it during the night, apparently. The weird thing is, they didn’t steal my stereo or my sunglasses! I guess they just wanted to turn those damn hazard lights off.

Weird.

Anyway, they called later to announce that my 1988 Chevy Corsica was well and truly dead. The engine had finally crapped out.

That set off a chain of events that can only be described as “inevitable” and “stressful.” But I think the most common summary of the last week is that “it’s about damn time Tim got a new car.” Yes, that old car needed to die…

… Like Terri Schiavo.

OH! Damn! SNAP!!! I just riffed on a dead girl’s corpse! Bam!

Sorry, was that in poor taste? I have this condition where I can’t work up any energy to defend stupid societal herd-trips. It’s called: Not Caring.

It’s not that I don’t care about Terri, but I don’t care for the way we’re being manipulated. The media totally creamed their pants over this story, and I think it’s disgusting. They just used the sorry tale for their own ratings; these people don’t give a fuck about Terri Schiavo… but they know that viewers will tune in. Shit, I don’t even have a TV and I could tell we were being buried under a gigantic, stinking pile of media bullshit. I think the whole affair paints our dear mainstream media as a crew of sneaking whores, doing only what they know will titillate.

In school we’re ostensibly taught to think critically. Good thing, too, because once you get out of school, that’s the last time you’ll get to practice those skills. The Mainstream Media (MSM) encourages you to join the herd. Join the “main stream” — get out of those loony tributaries. And you certainly need to stay away from that Underground Stream. If we are the bovine herd down below, then the Media fancies itself the cowboy with a bullhorn on the ridge above. Maybe that’s why we have a cowboy for a president… of course, Bush is as much a “cowboy” as Ronald Reagan — he plays one on TV.

I find it endlessly hilarious how this blew up in the face of all the political hacks who tried to make a mint’s worth of political capital from this affair. The polls have resoundingly showed a public willing to let the feeding tubes be yanked. And so they have been. Toss a drink back for Terri Marie Schiavo, but don’t forget that she died on Feb. 25th, 1990. Whether her soul was present in the body seems to be immaterial – it had no communicative capability because of the brain damage. What freaks me out is the idea of being trapped in a body, unable to free your self (you know — your true self) from your broken body and brain. That would be worse than any prison. Hopefully that doesn’t happen and it’s more like sleeping, or you get to leave or whatever. Those are the questions I want answers to: the things that she – her soul — experienced. But that’s not what the media focused on. In their typical soulless way, they focused on the death of the body. “Oh my god! They’re killing this woman!” people screamed. If somebody had a more thoughtful take on the matter that person had a very slim chance of getting on the air. The MSM is a cesspool of fear, hatred, lingering anger, stress and stupidity… with a little depravity and slander thrown in for good measure.

Anyway, I just wanted to spew that little rant about the media’s obsessive coverage of certain events designed to get us to react emotionally and stop thinking rationally. That brings us to the third and final death of this death-filled post. Like my broken down car and Terri Schiavo, the Pope’s death was a long time coming. And once again the media has completely freaked out about the event, and is treating it like the biggest Deal EVER!

Come on people, it’s not like we didn’t see this coming. The pope’s been in so many celebrity deathpools that he’s been disqualified from most. He hasn’t been a spring chicken for quite some time. Also, most of his views/policies have been deceased in most parts of the world for decades or even centuries.

I guess I don’t care too much about the obsessive coverage of the Catholic Church because it shows just how batty many of their beliefs are. If you’re a Catholic, you’re expected to believe this shit. They used to tap the dead pope on the head with a silver hammer three times and ask, “Karol, are you dead?” each time. What’s he gonna say, “Yes”?

People are entitled to their beliefs, at least in this country…. at least for now. But I’m also entitled to mine, and I think Catholics, and religious people in general are crazy.

I suppose it’s safer in the herd. But herds of cattle are shepherded by predators — cowboys, of course! People don’t think cowboys are benevolent vegetarians, do they? Cowboys are interested in cattle-safety only because they plan to eat or sell the cow later. Why would you place your future and your life in the hands of predator if you didn’t have to?

I don’t think I should even have to justify my beliefs. It’s pretty common understanding amongst cognizant adults and even children, that religion is just a funky relic of our confused and bloody past. Many of the people who realize this still attend church, if only just for the community, or the stories, or even for the donuts. But does church really work any more? Does it deliver a religious experience, or is it just a part of the marketplace, fulfilling a need with drive-thru service? (I’ve got an idea for drive-thru confessions) I think religious folk are having a harder and harder time justifying their own beliefs, even when they aren’t being overtly challenged. The religious loons will invent a challenge, and then scream and wail like they’re being horribly persecuted.

The challenge, of course, is from the depths of their own mind. Some logical part of their brain is still calling out, even after being twisted and marginalized. They know somewhere deep down inside that their views are wrong. Sure, all religions are founded on true events and true people (except for Scientology – ooh!! SNAP!), and yes, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. But most events are so far in the past that we no longer have any meaningful frame of reference. We simply cannot know exactly what happened back then/there, and the archeological data we have is fragmentary at best.

Not that it’s not worth searching…. In fact, I believe that searching is the most important thing. It keeps your brain limber and on its toes. The problem with religion is this: The priests and evangelists offer easy answers. They give you an answer to some cosmic question and say, “It’s right here in this book.” Oh, and let’s not forget that the answer has been pre-interpreted for you. The implication is that you’re not smart enough to interpret it for yourself. There are many different interpretations to basically every single passage in the Bible. This seems straightforward, right? So why do we have a group of “Biblical-Literalists” living on this planet with us?

Honest question: How the fuck do you interpret the Bible literally? That’s just stupid! There IS no literal interpretation, because we can’t even agree on what it says! There’s many parts of the Bible that have been incorrectly translated, or are actively disputed by biblical scholars. If we don’t even know exactly what the Bible says, how the hell are we supposed to figure out what it means, literally? And why would we want to do that in the first place? Jesus talked in parables. I thought these people were supposed to be paying attention to the teachings of Christ. Yet, here we have a group of people who have deigned to give us the One True Interpretation. (Whenever you hear somebody make that claim, run. Get out of there as fast as possible. I’m serious. People who believe that are unstable and dangerous. Most of the blood spilled throughout history has been caused by people who thought they were right, and everyone one else was wrong. The followers of such people are generally ignorant, but they will gladly kill if their leader says it was ordained by God. ) These people don’t know Christ. If they did they wouldn’t go around bragging about it all the time. In my experience boasters are usually covering up some inadequacy. In this case, their fanatic zeal for evangelism and their fantasies of persecution are necessary to convince themselves that they are right.

This world can be really messed up sometimes. I think we’ve got a long way to go until we really understand life. The first thing we have to do is accept death. They are a package deal, it seems.

Just imagine if nothing died, and we would be surrounded by the hollow husks of men & beasts, still alive, but useless — and in agony. We should thank flies and worms for eating the flesh of the dead. It’s disgusting and freaky, but it is necessary to clear the way for more life.

I don’t think most people really understand the cycle of life. Most people fear death. Even the religious folk who tend to brag about how tight they are with God. Death is natural, and it can be merciful, as it was for all three of my examples: my car, Terri Schiavo, and the Pope John Paul II.

To complete the cycle, let me say a bit more about my car: I immediately started the mighty search, gearing up for the long haul if necessary. Luckily, I had put out word long before that I was in the need of some new wheels. I got hooked up with a couple of great leads by my Uncle Piper. I checked the second one out after visiting a couple local dealerships. That led to a trip down to Montgomery to test drive the car. It seemed like a great deal, so I went for it and spared myself a long search and huge car loan. I’m now the owner of a 1999 Saturn SL2.

I guess everything worked out. The cycle of life (and cars) continues.

Oh, sorry. That was cold. But is anybody else here sick to death of the whole Schiavo bruhaha? Talk about over exposed.

A kid here in Minnesota shoots up his school, killing 10, and the media hardly blinks. Dear Leader didn’t mention that for days, but he flew back from his perma-vacation in Crawford to sign a bill pissing on federalism in order to score some political points from Terri’s parents’ suffering. Good job, Georgie! We now know that you’re a complete tool! Oh wait, we already knew that. Well, still, it’s good to know that a vegetative white woman rates above 10 dead Native Americans in his book.

Let’s face facts: Terri Schiavo has been dead for 15 years, her body just hasn’t gotten the memo. I think her quality of life has diminished severely, unless her old hobbies included drooling and bed sores. I guess it’s possible that the fiendish doctors have been lying and she’s actually dancing the Watusi every night, but I just don’t see what they’d have to gain. You’d think they’d want to keep her alive as long as possible. Talk about the ideal patient – she hasn’t complained about anything yet!

You’d think there would be a better way to let her go to “the clearing at the end of the path” than starvation, though. I think a lethal injection would be more humane, but then again she’s a fucking vegetable and wouldn’t know the difference if we decided to kill her with a spoon. I guess the starvation thing gives her one more chance to prove she’s conscious. If they find her over by the vending machine, trying to get some Fritos, then we’ll know we shouldn’t’ve pulled the plug.

Make no mistake – her husband, Michael, sounds like an asshole. Not exactly Prince Charming, but he’s probably right about her not wanting to “live” like this. And her parents seem really desperate and sad. They’ve had 15 years to come to grips with this and they still haven’t accepted it. Come on, people. Doctors aren’t perfect and they’re often wrong, but if she was gonna recover, she should’ve done so by now. Just think – if she woke up, she’d think it was 1992 or something. She died a beautiful woman and now she’s an old shell of herself. If she woke up she’d probably try to kill herself! Wouldn’t that be ironic.

It seems strange to me that the Republicans can’t seem to realize that she’s been dead for 15 years. I guess they looked at her vacant stare and her rigid posture and assumed that she was one of them. Much of the Republican party seems to be the walking dead. They’re so much like zombies it’s frightening. They don’t think – they just react – to perceived threats, which is basically anything and everything. They’re so afraid of everything. How come all these old & religious people are so afraid of dying? You’d think people like the Pope would be in a hurry to go and be with God, But you’d be wrong….they know that they’ve spit on God throughout their lives. They know that they haven’t really loved all of God’s children (which includes me and other people who dare to thumb their noses at the Republican agenda). They know that they’ve exploited God to make themselves more powerful.

Not that the Democrats are any better. They’ve resorted to their old ways with this Schiavo case. They see that the Republicans are keyed up about something and they immediately make themselves scarce. They voted for the Schiavo bill, just like they voted for the Iraq War. They didn’t agree with it. but they’re so fucking scared of the political consequences that they ran away and licked their pussies. Not exactly inspiring; I’m glad I’m not a Democrat or I’d run away too – out of shame.

The Democrats are so pathetic and weak that they remind me of Ross Perot’s old runningmate, Admiral Stockdale. Remember that dude? He was so confused and befuddled that you had to wonder if he’d just recently awoken from a coma. The Democrats are now stealing all his best lines: “Where am I? What am I doing here? Where are my pants?”

The Republicans stole the Democrats’ pants long ago and the Democrats are too weak to ask for them back. The de-pantsing of the Democrats would be funnier if they weren’t our sole opposition party. If the Democrats die because of their weakness?…. Oh well. Out with the old and in with the new. That’s the way of life. It ends….and springs up somewhere else. Don’t worry about Terri – her soul is indestructable. I’d be more worried about the neocons running lose in American government. More on that next time.
